The Game
A player begins the game by putting a certain amount of money into a pot, called an ante. This ante usually is a small amount, and players can call or raise this ante as much as they like.

Once the flop has been dealt the dealer will put another card on the board that is in front of everyone. This is called the turn and again everyone in the hand can bet/check/raise/fold.
Each betting interval, or round, starts when a player to the left, in turn, makes a bet of some type. This bet can be “call,” by putting the same amount of chips into the pot as the player who has just made the bet; or “raise,” by putting in more than enough chips to call.
The betting intervals end when all of the bets have been equalized. This means that each player has put in as much money into the pot as the player to their left, and all other players have either dropped or called.
Bluffing
In poker, bluffing is one of the most important aspects of the game. The goal of bluffing is to make other players think that you have a good hand when in reality you don’t. This is an important part of the game because it gives you the opportunity to win a lot of money if your opponent doesn’t realize that you are bluffing!
